5 Main Enemy Tactics
Powerful aggressors have used many common tactics in their efforts to dispossess and destroy Indigenous and Maroon Peoples. These tactics include:
Attacks on human bodies by spreading disease, murder and, in some cases, attempted genocide.
They have attempted to curtail freedom by imprisonment, enslavement and other forms of forced labor.
They have aggressively acted to undermine the sovereignty of the Peoples through the theft of communal lands, forced migration, the banning and destruction of traditional food sources and mining, logging and other forms of “resource” extraction.
They have assaulted the cultural heritage of Peoples by stealing, destroying and denying cultural practices and artifacts
And they’ve forced assimilation into dominant cultures including banning and suppressing language.
